{"title":"Cellar Joan D'Anguera","description":"\u003cmeta charset=\"UTF-8\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFounded in 1820, the estate has continuously produced wine through seven generations, albeit as bulk wine sold off in Spain, as well as in France and England. It wasn't until 1984 that Josep (the father of the sons who now run the winery) started to bottle a portion; and it \u003c\/span\u003ewasn't until 1990 that he began to bottle the Finca l'Argatá, which was, at the time, their high-end bottling. \u003cspan\u003eThe family estate is now headed by brothers Josep and Joan d'Anguera who hold degrees in agronomy and enology respectively. They farm roughly 40 hectares of vineyards and have been certified organic and biodynamic since 2012.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eJosep and Joan took over the estate in 2000 \u003c\/span\u003eafter the passing of their father and initially made wines in the same style - big, oaky, and tannic. In 2008 they transformed the winery and vineyard. Shifting to organic and biodynamic farming practices, they also changed the wine-making methods, and clearly for the better.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe D'Anguera estate is dedicated almost exclusively to old vine Grenache and Carignan. They take a minimalist approach to wine-making, but with acute attention to detail. There are four parcels of vines (Finca l'Argat\u003c\/span\u003eá\u003cspan\u003e, \u003c\/span\u003eMas\u003cspan\u003e de Padret, El \u003c\/span\u003eLancet and La Planella)\u003cspan\u003e. The brothers use concrete vats for fermentations with native yeasts, and the wines are aged in old French barriques.
