Tessier 2019 Toc Vin de France Rouge
100% Côt (Malbec). Elderberry, blueberry, blackberry, tea leaves, a hint of thyme, and a bit of barnyard round out the aroma profile of this juicy red wine from the Loire. Unlike Malbec from Cahors in southwestern France, this is fruit forward with extremely light tannins, and unlike many Malbecs from Argentina, this isn't overloaded with oak and jammy, cooked fruit. It is lighter on its feet and the tannins and acid show themselves insouciantly giving the wine a more serious presence on the finish. A fabulous paring with mustard coated, fresh buttered breadcrumb crusted, crispy-baked chicken thighs; or a cider braised pork shoulder with carrots and potatoes. Organic.
