Explorers' Seasonal Value Pack: Autumnal Crush - Our Main Squeezes for Fall

Explorers' Seasonal Value Pack: Autumnal Crush - Our Main Squeezes for Fall

Great Wines Don't Have to be Expensive!

This is the Fall seasonal value pack from Fiske & Main. Autumn is a transitional time; early in the season the days can still be warm and nights cool, but as the season winds down it’s often hard to tell where fall ends and winter begins. Meal choices reflect this and there is a fair share of summer and winter meal prep. The grills are still getting fired up, but braises and stews start aromatizing the kitchen. Fall needs versatile wines that meet many needs and this sampler pack is up to the challenge!

This sampler is a collection of wines that when faced with a wide array of food choices you’ll be sure to find something that “goes.” Included in this pack is a Cava for when you are feeling festive, having fried chicken or fish, and let's not forget Thanksgiving falls in Autumn! There is Falanghina from southern Italy that could work as a sipper and with most fish dishes; a rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon from France that has some stuffing and a touch of herbal character; a Nero Buono from Lazio, Italy that will pair with pizza or pasta; full-bodied red blend from Washington for those grilling and stewing evenings; and the “Wild Card” of the bunch, a co-fermented blend of Malbec and Pinot Noir that is at the same time juicy and full, almost like a fruit forward Nebbiolo without the tannins. As like previous Seasonal Samplers, a little bit of something from around the globe.

While some of us have had these grapes or wines from these places before, others have not, and these particular bottles may be new to you. And this is the point of the Exploration Packs, to try something you haven't had before, whether it is from a familiar style, or comforting place or a complete unknown.

All Exploration packs are discounted at least 10% off regular prices. No further discounts apply.

Bohigas NV Cava Brut Reserva

A blend of Xarello, Macabeo, and Parellada. Apples and pears with a light toasty-ness. Gentle bubbles make this very easy to get along with, and makes it a perfect accompaniment with food or by itself. Made the same way as Champagne with the second fermentation in bottle.

Cantina del Taburno 2019 Falanghina del Sannio Taburno

100% Falanghina. Fully aromatic with pear and tropical fruits abundant. Medium bodied white with concentrated flavors of pineapple and guava that coat the palate. This stainless steel fermented wine sees no oak and expresses itself masterfully with the ripe fruit and a persistent texture.

Cassagnoles 2020 Côtes de Gascogne Rosé

100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Red and black berries, red currants, cranberry, and a hint of bell pepper. Medium bodied with good concentration of flavors. Not a light rosé, but balanced with a nice ripeness. Finish is smooth with a certain lushness.

Cincinnato 2018 Pollùce Nero Buono

Gen del Alma 2020 JiJiJi Red

50% Malbec and 50% Pinot Noir. Black raspberry, black currants, cherry and plum are the main fruits, then there is a hint of violets with some crushed stone. The palate is bright with tart fruit intensity and a very focused concentration of flavors, especially for a light red. Carbonic maceration is key here to capture the fruit flavors and the grapes co-fermented, which makes this an unusual wine, especially from Argentina.

Portteus 2018 Bistro Red Rattlesnake Hills

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 50% Merlot. Red currants, black currants, blueberry, and a hint of bell pepper. Medium plus bodied, with very good concentration of flavors. Very moderate tannins with a medium long finish.
