Villargeau 2022 Coteaux du Giennois Pinot Noir

100% Pinot Noir. Red and black raspberries, red currants, savory herbs, cinnamon stick, chalky limestone, and fallen leaves. This fruit-forward, medium-bodied Pinot Noir from an area in the Loire between Orleans and Sancerre is atypical. The reds from Coteaux du Giennois are supposed to contain no more than 80% of Pinot or Gamay, but this bottling, made specially for the importer has no Gamay. 2022 was also a warm year that produced more ripe and generous wines. The brightening acidity supports all that lush fruit but the finish is very round, dry, and almost soft. A delightfully easy drinking Pinot from France at a great price. Organic.
