Explorers' Seasonal Value Pack: Spring - Your New Best Buds
Great Wines Don't Have to be Expensive!
This Explorer is an international selection evenly split between white and red wines. The wines are geared towards spring and early summer, so most are light- to medium-bodied, with some good acidity to spark the appetite. These bottles are certainly not solely for spring, but they do lend themselves nicely to grilling, spring holiday roasts, and of course anything begging for outdoor dining!
The three white wines are complex yet need no heavy thinking, two are made from single varieties, while the third is a blend. The first is a Sauvignon Blanc from Chile, which hasn’t been seen in the store for at least three years; the second is a mineral driven Greek wine made from the Roditis grape; the third is a more challenging blend of three Italian varieties (Vermentino, Trebbiano, and Falanghina) but made in Paso Robles, CA by a producer whose red is a massive store fave.
The three reds go from easy drinking and juicy to quite complex, with the third wine having some bottle age. The first red is a fruit-forward, easy-sipping Pinot Noir from Saint Chinian in the Languedoc region of France; the second is an Italian blend that is reminiscent of a Valpolicella but with a bit more oomph and depth; and finally the third is a first for the store - a Croatian Crljenak Kaštelanski which is just an easy way of saying Zinfandel. The average wine drinker doesn’t age wine and tends to consume their wine within days of purchase, often the very day it is bought. The vintage is 2018 so here is an opportunity to try something with a bit of bottle age.
This is our 6th Spring pack and, as this is an equinox, the wines are divided evenly between white and red. As always the wines show a wide range of styles and weights to offer diversity for various tastes.
While some folks have had these grapes or wines from these places before, others have not, or maybe these particular bottles are new to you. This is the point of the Explorers' Packs: to try something you haven't had before - whether it is a wine you are completely unfamiliar with or whether the wine is a from a familiar grape or place but perhaps from an unfamiliar wine-maker; these packs aim to offer something different.
This Explorers' Pack is discounted a touch more than 20% off regular prices. No further discounts apply.
