Pérez, Luis 2020 “La Escribana” Macharnudo

100% Palomino Fino. Citrus notes, with hints of lemon and lime and tangerine, lemon zest, dusty herbs, hazelnuts, lees, umami, and a savory saltiness. This is a very complex and arresting wine made in Cádiz just below Jerez. Jerez is famous for the fortified wines we typically call Sherry. This is a Vino de Pasto, or a "table wine." Simply, this is a dry white wine made with the same grape they use to make Sherry, but not fortified and therefore, with the exception that it is aged in old Sherry barrels, nothing like Sherry. The wine has great concentration and an extremely long finish. An unusual, but outstanding wine! Organic.
